That’s right! The fastest-selling sports game ever is EA Sports’ FIFA 11. The new soccer game has already sold 2.6 million copies in Europe and the US since the game’s launch in the regions on October 1st and September 28th respectively.

According to EA figures, FIFA 11′s week one sales are up 29% over last year’s record breaking launch of FIFA 10, while grossing sales of $150 million. Also, gamers registered more than 18.6 million online connected EA Sports game sessions, with more than 11.3 million contributed by FIFA 11 over the two-day period. These impressive numbers definitely have something to do with the excitement of this past summers World Cup record number viewership.

FIFA 11 launched for PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, PS2, PSP and Nintendo DS. I still need to go out and get the game for myself. If you haven’t played FIFA yet, its definitely worth the money!

With the success of Fifa 10, it was to be expected although many casuals have slated Fifa 11 saying it’s to slow, physcial, unresponsive, etc.. Even the hardcore seem to have a divded opinion.
