Under Armour is spending money like its nothing in… After they extended to a six-year deal with the University of South Carolina for $19 million; they sign Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Miles Austin to an endorsement deal; then they go ahead and sign Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Anquan Boldin to an sponsorship agreement; and now, Under Armour has signed a five-year deal with Auburn University worth $10.6 million, making the company the official outfitter of the school’s athletic teams beginning next summer. Under Armour also outfits the Univ. of Maryland football team and has relationships with the U.S. ski team, MLB, the NHL and MLS

According to Sports Business Daily, Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs said that the deal is “five times larger” than any previous apparel contract for the school. The Under Armour partnership ends a relationship of more than 50 years with Alabama-based Russell Corp. Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank said Auburn will be featured in the company’s national ad campaigns.

Currently, Auburn University football has creeped up to Number 1 in the BCS Standings for Week 9 (Oct. 24). Don’t overlook them, with rising star QB, Cameron Newton, they are definitely going to be a force to reckon with. My personal prediction is they will face Oregon in the BCS National Championship game.
